OFW Hospital serves nearly 125,000 patients in 2025, expands services and facilities

Nearly 125,000 patients sought care at the OFW Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga in 2025, marking a significant rise in service delivery for overseas Filipino workers and their families.

Records show that 124,947 individuals were assisted through outpatient consultations, emergency treatment, laboratory workups, diagnostic procedures, and surgical interventions over the past year. In addition, the hospital completed 264,384 diagnostic examinations covering radiology, laboratory analysis, respiratory testing, and cardiac monitoring, reflecting broader clinical capability and increased patient volume.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), which oversees the facility, continued to strengthen the hospital’s operations through a series of institutional upgrades and partnerships. Among these developments was the elevation of its Department of Health (DOH) License to Operate from Level 1 to Level 2, allowing the hospital to provide expanded medical services. It also secured accreditation under the DOH’s Medical Facility for Overseas Workers and Seafarers (MFOWS) program.

International engagement formed part of the hospital’s activities in 2025, including a visit by International Labour Organization (ILO) Assistant Director-General Manuela Tomei. The facility also entered into collaboration with the Philippine Pharma Procurement Inc. (PPPI) to ensure consistent access to essential equipment and hospital supplies.

Within the hospital grounds, new initiatives were rolled out to enhance patient experience, including the launch of Migrant’s Brew. At the same time, construction work formally began on October 13, 2025 for a dedicated Cancer Care Center, a major expansion project intended to widen specialized treatment options for OFWs and their dependents.

The hospital’s performance drew recognition beyond the Philippines. It was named Public Facility of the Year at the GovMedia Awards 2025 held in Singapore and also received the Best Antimicrobial Stewardship Award for its infection control and responsible antibiotic use programs.

The Cancer Care Center project had earlier been ceremonially launched through a groundbreaking led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on December 10, 2024, signaling national-level support for expanding healthcare access dedicated to migrant workers and their families.
