Visitors can now reach Jebel Jais without permits as access rules are lifted

Tourists and residents heading to Jebel Jais can now drive up the UAE’s highest peak without securing any entry permit, after authorities confirmed that access restrictions have been removed.

Officials announced on February 11 that visitors are once again free to enter the Ras Al Khaimah mountain destination and explore its scenic viewing points, leisure activities, outdoor experiences, and dining spots without special approval. The change is part of ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and visitor experience at one of the UAE’s most popular natural attractions.

Jebel Jais had faced temporary closure earlier in the season after heavy rainfall caused damage to parts of the mountain road, leading to safety-related restrictions. In the following weeks, the site was allowed to reopen under limited access measures while repairs and assessments were carried out.

With restoration works now completed, normal access has resumed across the destination.

Visitors planning to dine at 1484 by Puro, known as the highest restaurant in the UAE, are required to present a confirmed reservation upon arrival. Red Rock BBQ has also resumed operations, offering its full a la carte menu.

Other attractions and viewpoints across the mountain remain open to the public.

Meanwhile, the Jais Sky Tour is set to reopen on February 18, operating every Wednesday to Sunday and during public holidays, with scheduled sessions at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2pm.
