Three sisters in India die after jumping from ninth floor; suicide note mentions Korean games

Three minor sisters allegedly died by suicide in Ghaziabad after reportedly jumping together from the ninth floor of a residential building, with police recovering a note that suggested the girls were heavily attached to online Korean games.

The incident took place at around 2 am in Bharat City Society. Initial information indicated that the three sisters—aged 16, 14, and 12—jumped from the balcony of their home on the ninth floor. They were taken to Loni Hospital, where they were declared dead.

ACP Atul Kumar identified the girls as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12), daughters of Chetan Kumar. He said authorities received the report at around 2.15 am and confirmed the deaths after the girls were brought to the hospital.

Their father, Chetan Kumar, told IANS he was shocked after finding the note allegedly left behind by his daughters. He said the note contained an apology and a message directed to him: “Sorry, Papa…we cannot leave Korea. Korea is our life, and you can’t make us leave it. That’s why we are committing suicide.”

Kumar said he had not been aware of the extent of his daughters’ involvement with the games and did not know what specific game they were playing. He also raised concerns that the girls may have been pressured into completing certain tasks connected to the game.

“Whatever happened is quite bad. I will say, please don’t let your children play games. We never know what tasks they will give… We didn’t know this…If they had shared what kind of tasks they were giving, then it would not have happened… I don’t know which games those were. We just didn’t know … If we knew, then we would not have let them play that game,” Kumar told IANS.

Police said the exact reason behind the alleged suicide has not been confirmed and an investigation is ongoing.

The incident comes amid continued concerns globally about the impact of online content and gaming on minors. In the UK last year, a 12-year-old boy, Sebastian Cizman, died after reportedly attempting to imitate a hanging scene from Netflix series Squid Game, according to an inquest. He was found dead at his home in West Yorkshire during his younger brother’s First Holy Communion.

In another case reported in August 2025, a Class 10 student in Telangana’s Nirmal district allegedly died by suicide after his parents confiscated his phone due to his reported addiction to the online game PUBG.
