European traveler arrested at Dubai airport for smuggling narcotics

A traveler was apprehended at Dubai International Airport (DXB) for attempting to smuggle a substantial quantity of narcotics into the country. The arrest was made as the individual, arriving from a European nation, was found to have concealed a variety of illegal substances in his luggage.

Al Bayan, a local Arabic newspaper, reported on Friday that the security officials at DXB discovered the traveler in possession of 292 hallucinogenic pills, 5 hallucinogenic stamps, and 13.84 grams of hallucinogenic powder. Additionally, the authorities seized 7.38 grams of crack cocaine and 274.59 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Khaled Ahmed, the director of the Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs, lauded the efforts of the customs officials in thwarting the smuggling attempt. He emphasized the expertise and vigilance of the inspection teams, stating, “We have inspectors and officials with a high degree of competence, skills, and experience.” Ahmed also highlighted the role of cutting-edge inspection technology utilized at Dubai’s air and sea ports in the ongoing battle against the illegal drug trade.

The seizure underscores Dubai’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal narcotics and its commitment to safeguarding its community from the dangers of drug abuse.

The individual is currently in custody pending further investigation, as the authorities continue to maintain a watchful eye for any such illicit activities.
