Educational reintegration took center stage in Calabarzon after more than 60 former overseas-based Filipino teachers received ₱20,000 each in financial assistance aimed at helping them resume their profession in the Philippines.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Calabarzon said the assistance was released in December 2025 under the Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir (SPIMS) program, a reintegration initiative specifically designed for returning OFW educators.
According to DMW, SPIMS seeks to support teachers who have worked abroad and decided to return home, while also encouraging Filipino educators overseas to consider permanent teaching careers in the country.
In addition to the one-time financial support, beneficiaries were allowed to secure plantilla positions in the Department of Education without undergoing the usual hiring process, enabling them to immediately re-enter the public school system.
The regional office noted that its assistance extends beyond teachers. Distressed OFWs and their families across Calabarzon were also provided aid through the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund, which covers urgent needs such as medical care, legal concerns, and daily living expenses.
Other returning workers were granted livelihood assistance under the Livelihood Program for OFW Reintegration (LPOR), supporting efforts to establish small businesses or secure stable employment.
One beneficiary, Eigramer Bocotan, expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying the programs helped ease the challenges of returning home and rebuilding a livelihood.
DMW IV-A Regional Director Atty. April R. Casabuena said the agency is marking its fourth year of continuously implementing assistance and reintegration programs for overseas Filipinos and their families in the region.
