Father stabs son during drinking session in Quezon island town

Police in Quezon province are pursuing a man suspected of stabbing his own son during a daytime drinking session in an island municipality, leaving the younger man seriously injured.

According to information cited by Inquirer.net, the incident occurred early Friday afternoon inside a residence in Barangay Poblacion in the island town of Patnanungan. The victim, a 46-year-old farmer identified by authorities as “Allen,” had been drinking with his father, “Abet,” when the two became embroiled in a verbal dispute.

Investigators said the argument escalated inside the house at around 1:30 p.m., after which the older man allegedly seized a bolo and struck his son in the abdominal area. Relatives who were nearby intervened after the stabbing and brought Allen to the Patnanungan Rural Health Unit for emergency medical care.

Police said the suspect left the scene immediately following the attack. Officers from Quezon Provincial Police Office have since launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him.

Authorities said they are still working to determine what triggered the confrontation, noting that details surrounding the altercation have yet to be established as the investigation continues.
