A New Year’s Day shooting in a rural section of this town left a 42-year-old overseas Filipino worker dead and another OFW injured, according to police accounts.
The fatality was identified as Julie, 42, who was single. Authorities said she was riding a motorcycle in Sitio Usiw, Barangay Ayusan 1, in Tiaong, Quezon when the attack occurred.
Investigators established that Julie was en route to pick up her friend, identified as Cess, when two assailants aboard another motorcycle approached and opened fire. Julie was struck and died at the scene, while Cess sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
After the shooting, the suspects escaped toward Barangay Ayusan II, police said.
Law enforcement units have launched follow-up inquiries and manhunt operations to identify and locate those responsible.
