Dubai labor office bags multiple national awards for OFW services

Recognition for overseas labor service took center stage in Pasay City this month as the Department of Migrant Workers handed out top citations during its annual command conference, placing the Migrant Workers Office in Dubai and the Northern Emirates among the most awarded field offices.

At the gathering held from December 16 to 19 at the Conrad Hotel, the Migrant Workers Office–Dubai and Northern Emirates was cited for a range of initiatives spanning frontline assistance, digital transformation, and labor diplomacy. One of the distinctions recognized the office’s role in supporting the 2025 Bagong Bayani ng Mundo – Serbisyo Caravan, where it was given the Serbisyo Caravan Star.

The Dubai office also received the Haven of Care Award for its management of the Migrant Workers Resource Center, highlighting systems put in place to address the welfare needs of overseas Filipino workers. Its efforts to update service delivery earned another citation through the Innovator Circles Award, linked to the rollout of an Online Employment Contract Verification System developed in partnership with the DataFlow Group.

Additional honors reflected the office’s engagement beyond case handling. A Labor Diplomacy Award was conferred for advancing Philippine labor interests abroad, while the Most Improved Host MWO award cited changes introduced to enhance the overall OFW Serbisyo Caravan experience.

Individual service milestones were also acknowledged. Atty. John Rio A. Bautista, who serves as labor attaché and head of the Dubai office, along with several members of the MWO–Dubai team, received Loyalty Service Awards marking decades of government service.

The distinctions were formally shared with partner posts, including the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General–Dubai, citing coordination under the One-Country Team Approach. The office also acknowledged the role of Filipino community groups, private-sector collaborators, and UAE government counterparts in supporting its programs.
