President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to personally greet overseas Filipino workers arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Tuesday morning, December 16, as part of a holiday reception for Filipinos returning home for Christmas.
The activity forms part of the 2025 Presidential “Pamaskong Salubong para sa mga Bagong Bayani ng Bansa,” a yearly initiative that honors migrant workers coming back to the Philippines to spend the season with their families.
Among those expected to be welcomed by the President is Rhodora Tumacao, one of the Filipinos affected by a deadly fire incident in Hong Kong.
The holiday reception is jointly organized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Migrant Workers, which have traditionally led the annual program for returning OFWs during the Christmas period.
During the visit, Marcos is also scheduled to inaugurate the airport’s newly installed electronic gates system, which uses passport scanning and facial recognition technology for both arriving and departing passengers.
Airport officials expect the new system at Terminal 3 to improve passenger comfort and ease congestion by reducing bottlenecks within the terminal.
