International travelers passing through Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 are beginning to see changes as new systems and facilities come online, aimed at easing border processing and enhancing passenger amenities.
Airport operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) confirmed on Monday that biometric immigration e-gates are being introduced across the airport as part of a staggered implementation. A total of 78 automated gates are planned for deployment, with several already operating at Terminals 1 and 3, the airport’s main hubs for international flights.
Alongside the border control upgrades, Terminal 3 is also expanding its food and dining options. NNIC said two new food halls are set to open within the terminal: the All-Filipino Tambayan Food Hall, which will showcase local cuisine, and the Mezzanine Food Hall, offering additional dining choices for departing and arriving passengers.
Terminal 3 will also soon feature a new Dignitaries Lounge designed to host official and high-profile visitors. The facility spans about 200 square meters and can accommodate up to 61 guests at a time.
“This shows how this partnership with the government is delivering improvements that the public can actually see and feel. As we enter the new year, we look forward to continuing this work and building on what is already in place,” NNIC President Ramon S. Ang said.
NNIC noted that the public-private partnership overseeing the airport’s redevelopment has so far generated more than P57 billion in remittances to the national government, funds that have been directed toward other public needs.
Additional enhancements at the country’s main gateway are expected in the months ahead as ongoing works continue across NAIA.
