Thousands of overseas Filipinos in Kuwait turned to government frontline agencies earlier this month as the inaugural Bagong Bayani ng Mundo–OFW Serbisyo Caravan brought a full suite of services directly to the community. Held from December 5 to 7 at Crowne Plaza and the Philippine Embassy, the initiative logged 26,252 completed transactions for 17,822 beneficiaries.
While most services were delivered during the three-day schedule, several agencies continued to assist workers beyond the official dates, including OWWA, PhilHealth, the Philippine Embassy, and the Migrant Workers Office in Kuwait. The tally also reflected e-card issuances completed prior to the caravan’s opening.
The activity gathered a wide network of national agencies under one coordinated stop, with the Department of Migrant Workers leading the effort. Among those that deployed teams were the Migrant Workers Office–Kuwait, the Philippine Embassy, OWWA, the Office of the President–Presidential Action Center, the Land Transportation Office, Social Security System, Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, the National Reintegration Center for OFWs, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Landbank, and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
For many participants, the Kuwait gathering served as an opportunity to update records, settle requirements, and obtain benefits without needing to return to the Philippines. It also showcased key digital tools now being rolled out by the government—such as the OFW Pass and the eGovPH app—designed to simplify documentation and speed up processing for returning workers.
The Kuwait stop marked the 19th edition of the global caravan, which began in Hong Kong in June and has since travelled to various OFW hubs as part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to expand on-site government support for Filipinos overseas.
