The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has issued a strong warning to Filipinos to remain vigilant against illegal and unconventional travel routes exploited by human trafficking syndicates to smuggle victims out of the country.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac shared reports from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) revealing that some victims were transported from Manila to Puerto Princesa before being taken out of the country through backdoor exits in Rizal and Palawan. The victims were reportedly moved using boats and passed through several transit points — a clear indication of illicit operations.
The DMW reminded the public that legitimate overseas employment applications should only go through DMW-accredited channels. The agency continues to work closely with partner institutions to combat fraudulent activities that endanger the safety and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
