In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pinay Ikaw Na successfully held its 4th Annual “Bowling for a Cause” Charity Tournament on 31 October 2025 at Funland. The event gathered 18 spirited teams for a day filled with friendly competition, fitness, and advocacy all in support of a meaningful cause.
The event commenced with energy and enthusiasm even before the first bowling ball was rolled. Participants joined an invigorating Zumba session, which set a lively tone for the day. The upbeat music and synchronized movements not only warmed up their bodies but also uplift their spirits, perfectly preparing everyone for the friendly competition that followed.
After this burst of physical activity, the focus shifted to unity and purpose. Following the singing of the Bahrain and Philippine National Anthems, Assistant Treasurer Evangeline Pilotin offered a meaningful invocation, setting the stage for the official welcome. Pinay Ikaw Na President Dinah Sta. Ana expressed her joy at the impressive turnout, highlighting the strength of collective action.
The day’s message was powerfully reinforced by Dr. Orville A. Ballitoc, Labor Attaché-Philippine Embassy, who delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the crucial roles of health awareness and community solidarity, the core pillars of Pinay Ikaw Na’s mission.
Juvilyn “Butch” Gumabay, Welfare Officer of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), led the Oath of Sportsmanship. Following that, Ms. Dinah E. Sta. Ana, Dr. Ballitoc, and Ms. Gumabay together rolled the ceremonial first ball to officially start the championship.
Anabelle N. Abella, a member of the Platinum Bowling Team and an Executive Secretary at Kayan Real Estate Co., WLL, participated in the tournament. She said, “I loved the idea of supporting the Bowling for a Cause event, primarily because of the meaningful work that PINAY IKAW NA does in our community.
This fundraising event she said, ”Provides an opportunity to contribute to their mission while bringing people together in a fun and accessible way. ” Bowling is a fantastic, low-pressure activity that people of all ages and skill levels can enjoy, fostering connection and camaraderie. I truly believe that events which combine social interaction, physical activity, and philanthropy are a powerful way to make a tangible difference locally, and I am excited to be part of that positive energy.”
Meanwhile, Emma dela Pina from the The FOBS team and a Nursing Quality Coordinator at King Hamad University Hospital expressed her pride at participating in the charity event organized by Pinay Ikaw Na. “I’m honoured to have taken part in ‘Bowling for a Cause’ and to contribute to such a meaningful initiative.
