Young Filipina ballerina from Dubai wins top prizes in three Halloween costume competitions

Dubai-based Filipina ballerina Daniella Alessandra P. Daniel, a student of The Philippine School (TPS) in Al Muhaisnah 2, has added another set of achievements to her growing list — this time, beyond the ballet stage.

From October 31 to November 2, 2025, Daniella joined three major Halloween costume competitions across Dubai malls and impressively won in all three events. She placed 3rd at BurJuman Mall, 2nd at B1 Mall in Al Barsha, and 1st at Wafi City Mall, where she had also been recognized as one of the Overall Best Costumes in both 2023 and 2024.

Daniella’s costume journey began in 2019 during her very first ballet recital. Her parents entered her into the Town Centre Jumeirah Halloween Costume Competition, where the then five-year-old ballerina—dressed as an adorable little bunny—won 2nd place. The experience sparked what would become a cherished annual family tradition.

In the years that followed, the family experimented with classic Halloween themes. Yet, spooky costumes never quite matched Daniella’s naturally graceful and elegant personality. As she grew older, finding designs that truly reflected her character became more challenging.

Everything changed in 2022, when Daniella competed in her first ballet event under the Association of Ballet Academies Philippines (ABAP)—and won. The triumph revived her confidence and creativity. Inspired, her family decided to repurpose her winning ballet tutu for dress-up, adding a pair of angel wings. This creation became Daniella’s “Angel Costume,” symbolizing faith, beauty, and elegance.

The costume also carried a deeper meaning. Offered in honor of Saint Michael the Archangel, it was featured during the Family Fest Celebration at St. Michael’s Church in Sharjah, where the family portrayed Saint Michael the Guardian Angel and reenacted the fall of the demon—a performance that had previously earned them special recognition from Bishop Paolo Martinelli, Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia.

Looking ahead, Daniella’s family is already conceptualizing her costume for next year’s competitions. Their inspiration? The stunning Miss Universe Puerto Rico blue bird ballet costume—a theme that promises another show-stopping appearance.

With her talent, dedication, and creative family behind her, Daniella continues to shine—on stage, in costume competitions, and in the hearts of her community.
