The Philippines and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the protection and welfare of migrant workers during a high-level meeting held on November 3, 2025, at the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Central Office in Mandaluyong City.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, together with Undersecretary for Policy and International Cooperation Jainal T. Rasul Jr. and Assistant Secretary Levinson Alcantara, met with Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Dr. Mohammad Nazrul Islam and his delegation to strengthen collaboration in labor migration management.
The discussions focused on the proposed Philippines–Bangladesh Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering ethical recruitment, skills development, digitalization, and reintegration programs. Both sides also exchanged updates on joint efforts with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and reviewed reforms promoting fair salary standards and incentives for compliant employers.
Cacdac and Islam reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring decent work conditions and stronger protection mechanisms for overseas workers. The two nations have been partners since 2003 under the Colombo Process, a regional consultative forum dedicated to transparent recruitment practices and the advancement of migrant welfare.
