The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has placed its Disaster Operations Center on standby to support local governments responding to Typhoon Tino, Vice President Sara Duterte announced on Tuesday.
In a video statement, Duterte urged the public to follow emergency instructions and put their safety first as heavy rains and widespread flooding continue in parts of the Visayas and northern Mindanao.
She also reminded families to keep emergency supplies prepared, including first aid kits, food, water, flashlights, and batteries.
Government reports showed at least five fatalities and roughly 400,000 displaced residents as the storm hammered communities with flooding and strong winds.
Typhoon Tino weakened after its fourth landfall in San Lorenzo, Guimaras late Tuesday morning and was projected to move across southern Panay, Cuyo Islands, and northern Palawan before exiting to the West Philippine Sea by Wednesday.
