Dubai residents riding the Metro now have a new tool to help them navigate rush hour more smoothly, as Google Maps has quietly rolled out a feature that lets users report train delays in real time.
Commuters using the Red and Green Lines can now tap a ‘Report delay’ option on Google Maps, located beside the Directions button or within a chosen route. The system allows passengers to mark if a train is late toward stations such as Centrepoint, Expo, Creek, e&, and Life Pharmacy, Gulf News reported.
The feature requires users to be logged into their Google accounts. Once active, riders can select whether a train is delayed, confirm existing delay alerts, or flag uncertainty through options including Yes, No, or Not sure.
While there has been no formal announcement, the update appears to be part of a phased release. Currently, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) already supplies real-time bus data to Google Maps, and this new feature introduces a crowdsourced layer for train updates.
The move supports a growing trend of commuter-driven reporting to enhance travel accuracy, giving Dubai’s Metro users more visibility on possible disruptions and helping the public plan smarter routes during peak hours.
