A well-known Thai herbal inhaler brand has pulled one of its products from the market after authorities confirmed it did not meet national safety standards due to microbial contamination.
Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Batch “000332” of the “Herbal Inhaler Formula 2” did not pass laboratory testing conducted by the Department of Medical Sciences. The sample, the agency said, exceeded acceptable levels for bacteria, yeast, and mould, and tested positive for Clostridium species.
Regulators classified the recalled batch as a “non-standard herbal product” under Thailand’s Herbal Products Act B.E. 2562 (2019). The law carries penalties for violators, including up to two years’ imprisonment and/or a fine of up to 200,000 baht for manufacturers, and up to six months’ imprisonment or a fine up to 50,000 baht for sellers.
Manufacturer Hong Thai confirmed the recall in a public statement, stressing that “customer safety is [their] highest priority.” The company said it “fully acknowledges and accepts the results of the FDA’s inspection with utmost respect” and apologised to distributors and users for any concern caused, expressing gratitude for continued support.
Authorities advised consumers to check the batch number on their herbal inhalers and stop using the affected product if identified.
