Proud moment as Bahraini-Filipina becomes one of first to earn IOC Sports Medicine title

Manama, Bahrain — Dr. Sarah Abdulaziz Ahmed Marzooq Abdulla has made history as one of the first two Bahraini doctors to successfully complete the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC) Program in Sports Medicine. Dr. Sarah Abdulla recently graduated from the Olympic University in Lausanne, Switzerland, earning her Diploma in Sports Medicine after passing the rigorous final examination held in Oslo, Norway.

She shares this remarkable achievement with fellow Bahraini doctor, Dr. Ruqaya Al-Shammaa, marking a historic milestone for the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Sarah, the second child of Abdulaziz Ahmed Marzooq Abdulla and Dinah E. Sta. Ana, earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Arabian Gulf University. Her mother, Dinah E. Sta. Ana, a Filipina, currently serves as the president of Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN), the largest organization of Filipino women in Bahrain committed to empowering women and supporting charitable initiatives.

According to her mother, Dinah, “Sarah is a loving and responsible daughter to us and to her siblings.”

A Tamkeen Program scholar under the Family Physician specialization, Dr. Sarah currently serves at the Salmanya Medical Complex, one of Bahrain’s leading healthcare institutions.

Dr. Sarah’s remarkable achievement not only underscores her personal dedication and excellence but also stands as a proud moment for Bahrain’s medical community and a source of inspiration for young women across the Gulf and the Filipino community abroad.
