President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. cheerfully admitted he is ready to become a grandfather, joking that anyone who could win over one of his sons deserves “good luck.”
In the closing segment of BBM Podcast Episode 5 released Wednesday, Marcos was asked what advice he would give to any woman aiming to be part of his family. “Well, I’m at the stage in my life where I would say, yes, please. But I would also add good luck. Knowing my sons, good luck with that,” he said.
The President and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have three sons: Joseph Simon, William Vincent, and Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos—whose long-term relationship with actress Alexa Miro recently made headlines after her public confirmation of their five-year romance.
When asked how he bonds with his sons, Marcos said he treats them as equals rather than children. “I’ve always treated them as whole persons,” he said. “I never did baby talk. I thought that’s the most silly thing to do. And I just dealt with them as people.”
He described their relationship as close and filled with laughter, saying, “Each one is very different. But they all crack me up. They all make me laugh a lot.”
Marcos also praised his wife, calling her a determined and effective public servant. “Once she gets hold of something and she decides to do it, she actually gets it done. And she’s very effective,” he said, adding that her legal background continues to serve her well.
At the reopening of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on September 30, Marcos earlier charmed the crowd when he expressed admiration for the First Lady, saying he “could not have asked for a better partner in this journey of service.”
