A speeding car lost control and caused a deadly collision in Khor Fakkan on Monday night, killing a 41-year-old Emirati father and his seven-month-old son. Two others, including the child’s mother, were injured.
Sharjah Police said the crash occurred around 8:55 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Preliminary investigations revealed that one driver was speeding and suddenly swerved, causing his vehicle to cross the median and crash into an oncoming car, which then overturned.
Colonel Dr. Walid Khamees Al Yamahi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, said emergency teams “rushed to the site” after receiving the alert. “Police patrols, civil defence, and national ambulance teams rushed to the site. The injured were quickly assisted and transported to the hospital for urgent care,” he said.
Despite efforts to save them, the father and his infant son succumbed to their injuries following surgery. The mother sustained serious injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle suffered moderate wounds.
Authorities extended condolences to the bereaved family and reminded motorists to adhere to speed limits, avoid distractions, and remain cautious on curved roads to prevent further tragedies.
