Over 73,000 fake job ads targeting OFWs taken down

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has intensified its crackdown on fraudulent online recruitment schemes, announcing that more than 73,000 fake job postings have been removed from social media platforms.

According to Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, the agency, in coordination with Meta, continues to monitor and dismantle deceptive ads that prey on Filipinos aspiring to work abroad. “Lahat po ng nabiktima ay tinutulungan natin. Binigyan natin ng AKSYON Fund assistance,” Cacdac said, underscoring the department’s commitment to providing aid to victims of these scams.

The DMW reiterated its warning against recruiters and job offers spreading through Facebook, TikTok, and similar platforms, noting that these often promise unusually high salaries, instant hiring, or contracts lacking clear terms. The agency urged the public to check the list of accredited recruitment agencies on its website before applying.

Working alongside the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the DMW is also pursuing legal action against scammers while extending repatriation and legal aid to affected workers.

For suspicious offers, the public is advised to call the DMW-OWWA Hotline 1348 or the National Anti-Scam Hotline 1326 of the DICT.
