First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has wasted no time preparing for next year’s commemoration of Philippine Independence, promising a more festive and meaningful celebration.
She revealed on social media that she recently led a post-assessment meeting following the 127th Independence Day rites, which took place last June 12. “Our post-assessment meeting was all about learning, improving and planning ahead to make next year even better,” she wrote.
The previous celebration highlighted the country’s progress since 1898, featuring military displays at the Quirino Grandstand and parades that honored historic uprisings. Floats representing local revolutions and cultural performances by communities across the nation gave life to the festivities, blending history with vibrant tradition.
Looking ahead to the 128th anniversary, the First Lady expressed optimism and gratitude. “Grateful to everyone who will help make the 128th Philippine Independence celebration meaningful and a big success!” she said, closing her message with a reminder of the day’s essence: “Para sa bayan, para sa kalayaan (For the nation, for freedom).”
