The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has intensified its humanitarian mission in the Philippines, reaching communities severely affected by floods triggered by Typhoon Nando, internationally known as Typhoon Ragasa.
Emergency teams have already provided life-saving assistance to more than 18,000 people in the SOCCSKSARGEN region, particularly in Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato. Families received food packs, shelter materials, hygiene kits, health supplies, clean drinking water, and other urgent necessities.
According to the agency, the initiative reflects the UAE’s long-standing humanitarian values of solidarity and compassion for disaster-stricken populations, regardless of race, religion, or background. For this phase of relief, ERC sourced most supplies directly from local markets in the Philippines, working in coordination with the UAE Mission in Manila to ensure swift distribution.
The relief drive comes as government reports confirmed three fatalities from the typhoon, which also left 128 areas under water, including parts of Metro Manila. ERC said it continues to monitor the evolving situation and is prepared to expand its operations in line with the needs on the ground.
