The Philippine Embassy in Bahrain, represented by Cultural Attaché Ms. Jiemarie Mortel-Ladrica on behalf of Chargé d’Affaires Hon. Bryan Jess T. Baguio, joined the Philippine School Bahrain (PSB) on September 2, 2025, in the official commissioning of its photovoltaic (PV) solar project, marking the school’s full transition to 100% solar-powered capacity.


The board of directors, staff, students, parents, and alumni of the school warmly welcomed notable guests, including Dr. Sanaa Saeed Alhaddad, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Planning and Licensing, and Ms. Lulwa Ghassan Al-Muhanna, Director of Licensing and Follow-up of Private Schools, both from the Ministry of Education (MOE). Mr. Qahtan Mohammed Alfaris, Chief of Engineering Service, represented H.E. Yasser Bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs (MEWA).
Green Innova, the project contractor, was represented by its management team, demonstrating their dedication to the successful execution of this initiative.


The ceremony commenced with remarks from Mr. Reuel C. Castro, Chairman of the PSB Board of Directors, followed by Mr. Nabeel Ahmed Ali Radhi, Managing Director of Green Innova. Both speakers highlighted the significance of innovation and sustainability, with Castro asserting that educational institutions should set a precedent, while Radhi pointed out that PSB is among the first in the Kingdom to operate entirely on solar energy.
In celebration of this occasion, the Philippine Embassy conveyed its congratulations to the Philippine School Bahrain for its remarkable accomplishment of achieving 100% solar-powered capacity. This significant milestone not only enhances sustainability and innovation but also encourages the adoption of clean, renewable energy in the fight against climate change.

A symbolic switch-on ceremony was conducted by Castro along with the distinguished guests, followed by the presentation of Plaques of Appreciation to partners and a guided rooftop tour featuring one of the three PV solar installations.
This initiative is in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. Radhi remarked that such projects represent a crucial advancement towards sustainable energy utilization throughout the Kingdom.
In his concluding remarks, Castro encouraged the youth to take an active role in environmental stewardship: “[You] must look after the environment, protect the environment and the resources it provides.
Founded to cater to Filipino expatriate families overseas, Philippine School Bahrain serves as a fundamental institution for the Filipino community in the Kingdom of Bahrain, offering high-quality education. Beyond academics, PSB emphasizes Filipino culture, values, and traditions, helping students maintain a strong sense of identity while fostering a global \s\serspective.
