Palestinian-American comedian Amer Zahr is set to bring his latest comedy special ARAB GOSSIP to the Dubai Opera on October 11 as part of the Dubai Comedy Festival — but this show will carry more than just punchlines.
In an act of solidarity with his homeland, Zahr announced that he will donate his entire fee from the performance to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to aid Palestinian refugees.
“This has been a difficult time for all of us,” Zahr said. “As artists, we all try to find a way to cope with the happenings in Palestine while still presenting our creativity.”
He added, “So, when you come to this show, you are helping me help UNRWA and the refugees in Palestine. From the heart, Amer Zahr.”
Known for his bold humor and thought-provoking commentary on identity, politics, and Arab culture, Zahr promises a night of laughter laced with deeper meaning. His newest show, ARAB GOSSIP, dives into the high-speed world of community chatter — from overbearing relatives to the hilarious drama of Arab households where news spreads faster than a viral meme.
Through satire and storytelling, the comedian sheds light on universal experiences, bridging cultures with authenticity and heart. Zahr has performed in over 15 countries and is the author of Being Palestinian Makes Me Smile.
The Dubai Comedy Festival, running from October 2 to 12, will feature international comedy acts, but Zahr’s performance stands out for combining entertainment with advocacy.
Tickets for ARAB GOSSIP are available at Platinumlist and Dubai Opera.
