Lacson takes over Senate Blue Ribbon panel amid flood control probe

Newly-elected Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson has assumed the chairmanship of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, replacing Senator Rodante Marcoleta, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III confirmed.

The leadership shake-up comes as the powerful committee continues its probe into questionable flood control projects nationwide.

Sotto, who recently reclaimed the Senate presidency after securing the support of 15 colleagues, said the decision to reorganize leadership roles had been discussed weeks before. He emphasized that while disagreements with the previous leadership prompted the change, these were not linked to the flood control controversy.

Senator Migz Zubiri earlier nominated Sotto to succeed Senator Francis Escudero, cementing the shift in Senate leadership.
