Aquino urges Senate to hold DPWH budget amid flood project irregularities

Senator Bam Aquino has called on his colleagues not to approve the proposed 2026 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) while multiple investigations into alleged irregularities remain unresolved. He stressed that Congress should first demand a clearer and more credible version of the spending plan.

Aquino suggested giving the executive branch four months to submit a revised proposal. However, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman pushed back, warning that such a delay would violate the Constitution.

Pangandaman added that her office is already coordinating with newly appointed DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon to review the agency’s projects. She assured lawmakers that unnecessary allocations will be removed to ensure more prudent use of public funds.
