Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) turned content creator Abdulhamid “Abdul” Bandon, widely known as the face behind MPD – Pinoy Feed Dubai, was formally recognized as a Social Media Influencer & Advocate during the recent town hall meeting organized by the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Dubai & Northern Emirates.
The recognition was presented in the presence of DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, DMW Undersecretaries, officials from the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Philippine Consulate in Dubai, community leaders, media, and fellow influencers.
“This is the most meaningful recognition I’ve received in my entire career as a content creator here in Dubai,” Bandon wrote in a Facebook post. “A heartfelt thank you to Labor Attaché Atty. John Rio Bautista and DataFlow for this honor.”
From hardship to advocacy
Bandon’s story has long inspired the Filipino community in the UAE. Originally from Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, he came to Dubai nearly two decades ago and endured tough beginnings—working long hours for as little as AED 500 a month, sometimes even without a proper employment visa. Over time, he found stability in the hospitality sector and eventually secured a license to pursue his passion as a digital creator.
Today, his platform MPD – Pinoy Feed Dubai (Mga Pinoy sa Dubai) has grown to over 321,000 followers across Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. It has become a vital source of information for OFWs, tackling topics such as travel protocols, contract verification, OWWA and DMW updates, and community news, while also providing uplifting and entertaining content.
A voice for OFWs
For Bandon, the award reflects not only personal achievement but also the collective strength of the Filipino community in Dubai.
“I am truly honored, blessed, and deeply grateful for this recognition,” he said. “Maraming salamat, Madam Josie, and to all my followers who have been with me from the beginning — your unwavering support means the world to me.”
