Vince Dizon takes oath as new DPWH chief, Lopez named acting DOTr secretary

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday formally administered the oath of office of Vince Dizon as the new Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Dizon’s appointment came after the resignation of Manuel “Manny” Bonoan, and Malacañang said the President handpicked him to carry out sweeping reforms and ensure that public funds go to projects that truly protect and benefit Filipinos.

Marcos emphasized that Dizon was chosen because of his “familiarity with both transportation and public works operations,” noting his previous leadership performance at the Department of Transportation (DOTr). Senators and key officials welcomed the appointment, expressing hope that Dizon could restore credibility to the agency, especially amid controversies surrounding alleged corruption in flood control projects.

At the same ceremony, former Undersecretary Giovanni Z. Lopez was designated as acting Secretary of the DOTr to fill the post left by Dizon.
