Ber months rush: MWO Dubai urges OFWs to verify contracts early

With the holiday season drawing near, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai is reminding overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to process their contract verification ahead of time to avoid the holiday rush.

Through its Online Employment Contract Verification System (OECVS), OFWs can now secure verified contracts without the need to queue at the office. The system, first piloted on July 7, has since expanded its weekly capacity from 200 weekday slots to 3,000 slots per week as of August 18. Just last August 23–24, an additional 1,000 slots were opened for the weekend, a move welcomed by workers struggling to secure appointments.

One OFW even shared that her entire verification process — from submission on August 4 to approval by August 13 — was completed fully online, highlighting how much faster and more convenient the new system has become.

MWO Dubai is now encouraging kababayans to take advantage of the platform while slots are available. “Advance your contract verification via OECVS and avoid the holiday rush,” its advisory read, reminding Filipinos that the Christmas season is traditionally the busiest travel period for OFWs.
