A Filipino couple working in Kuwait went to great lengths to ensure their rescued dogs would not be abandoned to the desert. Instead, they brought them home to Cebu, treating them as family.
According to a report by GMA Regional TV on 24 Oras Weekend, overseas Filipino workers Donnabelle Lee and Jeffrey Luage successfully transported 12 dogs to Sibonga, Cebu. The couple still plans to return to Kuwait to bring back 11 more.
Lee shared that the dogs were first left outside their workplace in Kuwait when they were still puppies. As their number grew, the couple built a small shelter for them. However, authorities later ordered the shelter’s demolition and warned that the dogs would be released into the desert if no one took them in.
Unable to accept the thought of the dogs being left to fend for themselves, Lee and Luage worked with other kind-hearted individuals to arrange their transfer to Cebu.
For the couple, the animals are not just pets but part of their family — and bringing them home was the only choice they could make.
