Most wanted man in Rizal arrested after 16 years in hiding for killing wife

A man who evaded authorities for more than a decade after allegedly killing his wife out of jealousy has been arrested in Baras, Rizal.

According to a report from TV Patrol, the suspect, 53, was wanted for parricide in connection with the death of his spouse back in October 2009.

Police Major Roberto Papa, officer-in-charge of Baras Municipal Police Station, confirmed the accusation: “Ang atin pong akusado kaya siya naakusahan ng parricide dahil po sa pagpatay niya sa kanyang misis.”

Investigators said the couple had a heated argument on the day of the crime. Overcome with jealousy, the suspect strangled his wife until she died. To conceal the killing, he allegedly hanged her body on a tree with wire. Family members and neighbors later discovered the crime scene.

Authorities added that the husband immediately disappeared after the incident. “Ito pong ating akusado ay biglang pong nawala nung araw ding iyon at nagtago na po siya,” PMaj. Papa explained.

For 16 years, the suspect reportedly hid in Bicol before resurfacing in Rizal. Acting on a tip, a tracker team from Baras Police arrested him last August 15, 2025.

The accused, who is considered a regional-level most wanted person, denied the allegations, saying, “Sa korte na lang ako magsasalita. Itinatanggi sir.”

He is now under police custody, awaiting court proceedings.
