You’ve got to follow your road

These are the lyrics of one of my favorite songs when I was a teenager until I became a young adult and now as an older adult:

With so many roads
That seem to lead
Down to the sea
I wonder which road
Will be the right
One for me

Others may fall away
Dead ending left and right
But there is this one road
That journeys far out of sight
Have you wondered where
Your road will lead you?

Maybe to a bright day of sunshine
Or a starry night in heaven
Or it might be you’re afraid to go
Afraid to go, but you’ve got
To follow your road or you’ll
Never know never know, never know

We are all but travellers
Living in a foreign land
Just trying to find our way
The best as we can
Looking for an answer trying
To find some way

Though we have journeyed
Far it’s not quite far enough
Have you wondered where
Your road will lead you
Maybe to a song that needs singing
Or a summer rain (don’t be afraid to go)

Or it might be you’re afraid to go
Afraid to go
But You’ve got to follow your road
Or you’ll never know

(Chorus)
You’ve got to follow your road
Follow your road
Follow your road
You’ve got to follow your road
Follow your road
Follow your road
You’ve got to follow your road
Follow your road
Follow your road
And maybe someday your road
Will take you far away

Keep following till you find it
And someday you will get there
Don’t be afraid

From https://sonichits.com/video/Pauline_Wilson/Follow_Your_Road, the overall meaning by Pauline Wilson’s song ‘Follow Your Road’ is a message to its listeners to continue searching for their path in life, and not to give up in the process. The song speaks to the idea that there are countless paths that one can take, particularly those that may lead us to the ocean. However, one path stands out – the road that journeys far out aside. It’s this road that should be taken, the one that leads us away from the dead-end ones that others may follow. The road is metaphoric; it’s a message to find one’s true purpose, direction, and passion in life. The singer is encouraging the audience to take on this journey, even if it appears scary or intimidating since the reality is we are all but travelers in a foreign land, ignorant of the future, yet with the knowledge that we have journeyed far, but not quite far enough.

I had used the theme ‘Follow Your Road’ in one of our Tristar Toastmasters Club meeting when I was the Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD). Indeed, we are living in a foreign land and trying to be the best and give the best to our loved ones.

I would like to reiterate what I wrote last week: We all have dreams. A number we have achieved. Some may seem to be far away. As long as we are alive, God will make them come true if we just believe in ourselves and His great provision.

So dear readers, do not be afraid to go and follow your road. You will never know unless you travel especially on the road less taken. All the best and God bless.
