Filipino volunteers in Dubai honored in thanksgiving celebration and farewell tribute to Consul General Angeles

The Filipino Social Club-Dubai (FILSOC) brought together volunteers and community leaders in a heartfelt thanksgiving gathering on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Windsor Hall, Glendale International School in Oud Metha. The event served as both a celebration of unity and a moving farewell tribute to Consul General Marford Angeles, whose term at the Philippine Consulate in Dubai concludes this October.

The thanksgiving was held to honor the “unsung heroes” behind the success of this year’s 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration, an annual event that draws thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Dubai. Volunteers, dressed in retro-inspired outfits from the ’60s to the ’90s, enjoyed music, food, games, and nostalgic moments in recognition of their dedication and hard work.

Adding emotional weight to the gathering was a surprise tribute for Consul General Angeles, who has been a strong supporter of the Filipino community throughout his assignment. Leaders and members of various groups expressed their gratitude through messages, video presentations, and shared memories of past community milestones. FILSOC also presented him with a token of appreciation, while attendees joined in singing and dancing with him in a festive show of solidarity.
