More than 180,000 OFWs now have OWWA eCards for faster benefits access

The government’s campaign to strengthen support for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) has reached a major milestone, with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) confirming the distribution of 180,663 eCards from July 2024 to August 2025.

The initiative is part of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to speed up and expand frontline services for OFWs, whom he consistently calls the country’s “Bagong Bayani.”

From July 2024 to April 2025, OWWA released 83,357 eCards. But the biggest leap came between May and August 2025, when the agency distributed 97,306 cards—a record-breaking achievement credited to an intensified nationwide campaign led by OWWA Administrator PY Caunan.

The OWWA eCard serves a dual purpose: it is proof of active OWWA membership and a gateway to a wide range of benefits. These include access to welfare programs, medical assistance, scholarships for dependents, repatriation support, and faster transactions with partner government agencies. It is also recognized as a valid government-issued ID in the Philippines.
