Nadia Montenegro still with Sen. Padilla’s office amid Senate smoking probe

Actress Nadia Montenegro remains a political officer under Senator Robin Padilla despite reports suggesting her resignation, the senator’s chief of staff clarified on Friday.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Rudolf Philip Jurado dismissed circulating claims, saying Montenegro has not stepped down from her post. “Not true. We have not received any resignation from Nadia. She’s still with us,” Jurado confirmed.

Montenegro is currently expected to answer an incident report from the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA), which tagged her in an alleged smoking incident within Senate premises. Jurado said their office is waiting for her explanation before taking any action.

“We are still waiting for Nadia’s explanation… How can we act? We do not know what she will say in the incident report as well as in the two previous news articles,” he noted.

Jurado also expressed no objection to OSAA’s plan to continue random drug testing for employees, adding that he has advised Montenegro to take a drug test. “Yes, from the very start, pinayuhan ko na rin siya. Pero I do not know. May lawyer yata siyang kausap,” he said.

The smoking incident remains under review, with Montenegro’s formal response yet to be submitted.
