Actress Marjorie Barretto has achieved a long-held dream — graduating from college at the age of 51.
In an emotional Instagram post, Barretto reflected on the years she put her studies on hold to focus on show business, raising her children, public service, business, and building her life. “At 51 years old, I finally wore this cap and gown… But God never forgot. In His perfect time, He gave me the courage to return, the strength to push through, and the joy of crossing this finish line,” she wrote.
Barretto said the highlight of her graduation was having her children by her side. “The sweetest part? My children were there to witness it — taking my photos and videos, handing me flowers and gifts. A moment so surreal, a full circle moment,” she shared.
She expressed her gratitude to the Philippine Women’s University for making the achievement possible, and to her close friend Ruffa Gutierrez for inspiring and encouraging her to return to school. “She graduated first, lovingly encouraged me to go back to college, and always reminded me that I could do it,” Barretto said.
In her message to others, the actress emphasized that “it’s never too late, and you are never too old” to fulfill the dreams placed in one’s heart.
Adding to the celebration, Barretto’s son, Leon, also graduated this year. “Not a lot of people can say they graduated college the same year as their mom… congratulations, mom! truly an inspiration to my siblings and me,” he posted.
