Two Emirati nationals lost their lives and three others from the same family were injured after a tourist bus overturned near a riverbed close to Balık Lake in Trabzon’s Çaykara district, northern Turkey, on Friday.
According to Turkey’s IHA news agency, the accident prompted an immediate response from gendarmerie units and emergency medical teams after tourists and local residents reported the incident. The injured passengers, trapped inside the vehicle, were rescued following a lengthy extraction effort.
Authorities identified the fatalities as 18-year-old Maryam Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim and 32-year-old Abdul Majid Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim. The injured—15-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, 53-year-old Samira Mohammed Abdul Rahman, and 60-year-old Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim—were taken to a state hospital for treatment.
Ambulances and a medical helicopter were deployed to assist in the evacuation. Turkish officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
