A 44-year-old barber sustained injuries after being stabbed by a customer who allegedly disliked his haircut in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
According to a report on Unang Balita, CCTV footage captured two barbershop employees chasing a man wielding a kitchen knife—the same weapon reportedly used in the attack. The pursuit extended to Major Marcos Street, but the suspect managed to flee.
The victim, now in stable condition, suffered a stab wound to his left cheek. He said it was his first time giving the suspect a haircut.
The barber recalled the encounter, saying the suspect had initially requested a faded style but insisted that the top part of his hair not be trimmed. After checking the mirror, the man reportedly changed his mind and asked the bangs to be shortened. He paid for the service and left, only to return about 30 minutes later to launch the assault.
The Holy Spirit Police Station responded swiftly after the victim’s wife called 911. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the 27-year-old suspect at his residence. Authorities recovered the kitchen knife used in the attack.
Police said the motive behind the incident was clear.
“We found that the suspect stabbed the victim because he was unhappy with his haircut,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Jefry Gamboa, commander of the Holy Spirit Police Station.
The suspect admitted that he was upset about the barber trimming the top of his hair against his preference.
“I asked him not to cut the top, but he still did it. I know I made a mistake. I didn’t really mean to do it. I’m sorry,” the suspect said.
However, the victim and his wife remain firm in pursuing charges.
“I don’t think I can forgive him. I will have him imprisoned,” the barber said.
“Just because of a haircut? If you don’t like it, you think it’s okay to hurt or even kill someone?” added the barber’s wife.
Records show the suspect had previously faced an attempted murder charge in May 2022 in Valenzuela City.
