Where is Sara Duterte? OVP has no clear answer amid impeachment buzz

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Tuesday struggled to provide clarity on the current whereabouts of Vice President Sara Duterte, just days before the Senate is expected to begin deliberations on her impeachment case.

During a press briefing, OVP spokesperson Atty. Ruth Castelo was pressed by reporters about where the Vice President is currently located, especially amid growing public interest following the Supreme Court’s recent decision declaring a key OVP program “unconstitutional.”

“We’ll get back to you on that before we end this conference,” Castelo initially said, deferring to later in the briefing.

She later remarked in a somewhat playful tone, “Who knows, she can just be right in the office—a few steps away,” but again refrained from confirming any specific location.

The briefing concluded without any official update on Duterte’s exact location.

The Vice President was last seen in public on July 28, reportedly arriving from South Korea. She was not present at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address. From July 29 to 31, she was in Marinduque for relief efforts organized by her office. Duterte had earlier indicated plans to travel to Kuwait on August 8.
