Dubai Sports World (DSW) has launched its highly anticipated August edition, ushering in a month-long celebration of fitness, competition, and inclusivity at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The indoor sports festival, organized in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), is set to run until September 2.
The opening day was marked by a spirited five-a-side football match, which featured senior citizens from the Thukher Club playing alongside prominent figures including HE Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, and Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President of DWTC. They faced a team led by former Chelsea and France international star Florent Malouda, in collaboration with the International Sports and Entertainment Zone (ISEZA).
Kicking things off was the city’s first indoor half marathon, DSW Run IN, which saw over 500 runners taking on the challenge—highlighting the venue’s commitment to elevating the city’s fitness culture.
“Dubai Sports World has become one of the most significant sporting events and community activities held in the city, attracting thousands of participants each year,” said HE Saeed Hareb. “It brings together people of all ages from over 200 nationalities, enhancing the health, happiness, and overall quality of life across the community.”
Mahir Julfar added that the event is especially meaningful for families and residents staying in Dubai during the summer. “This year’s edition is our most dynamic and engaging to date, with inclusive and high-impact sporting experiences.”
With over 25,000 square metres of space and more than 40 courts and pitches, Dubai Sports World hosts nine major sports: football, basketball, padel, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, cricket, tennis, and pickleball. A free-access gym featuring top-tier cardio, strength, and functional training equipment is also back this season.
For younger attendees, Dubai Kids World offers inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and retro gaming zones to keep them active while parents enjoy the sports facilities.
On August 23, the DSW Summer League will return, pitting corporate teams against one another in a showcase of workplace unity and competition.
Aspiring young athletes can also take advantage of world-class coaching through nine sports academies, including Galaxy Blues for football and Taal Basketball Academy led by U.S. college-level coaches.
Florent Malouda praised the event, saying, “Such initiatives are vital—they nurture talent, promote healthy living, and unite communities through the universal language of sport.”
Facilities are accessible to all, with bookings available through the Dubai Sports World app and website, offering features like real-time slot tracking and QR code check-ins. DSW remains open daily from 6:00 am for runners, and from 8:00 am to midnight for all other activities.
