Dubai launches automated fine payment system to instantly lift travel bans

Dubai Public Prosecution has unveiled a new smart fine payment service, allowing individuals convicted in criminal cases to settle their fines electronically. This streamlined system will also automatically lift travel restrictions for those who pay.

The innovative service applies to criminal judgments where fines are the designated punishment, covering cases judged in presence, absenteeism, or legal presence. It encompasses all litigation levels: primary, appeal, and cassation. Once fines are paid, the service collaborates with Dubai Police to revoke arrest warrants and end individual searches.

Shamsa Salem Al-Marri, Director of the Strategy and Institutional Excellence Department and Head of the Services Improvement Team, shared that this is a step forward in line with the 360 services policy. The approach seeks to digitize services, making them a daily norm across all sectors and institutions in Dubai.

Al-Marri emphasized that this service aims to enhance customer satisfaction. It eliminates the need for in-person visits to the Public Prosecution office, simplifies payment procedures, and utilizes up-to-date electronic payment tools. The overarching goal, she indicated, is to boost efficiency and effectiveness.

How to Pay?

  1. There are three convenient methods for fine settlement:
  2. Click the link in the SMS sent by Public Prosecution, then log in using a digital ID to pay electronically.
  3. Use payment machines for either electronic or cash transactions. These machines accept all banknotes and electronic cards.
  4. Settle fines on the Public Prosecution website by logging in with a digital ID.

Upon successful payment, customers receive an SMS from the Public Prosecution confirming the process’s completion, including the revocation of any arrest warrants and halting of individual searches.
