The national government’s budget deficit expanded by 16 percent in June 2025, reaching ₱241.6 billion, according to data released Thursday by the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr). This pushed the country’s total fiscal gap for the first six months of the year to ₱766 billion.
Revenue collections in June rose by 3.5 percent to ₱306.9 billion compared to the same month last year. However, government spending surged by 8.49 percent, totaling ₱548.5 billion, further widening the budget shortfall.
The growing deficit underscores the ongoing challenge of balancing public spending with revenue generation amid economic recovery efforts.
