32,000 overstayers, violators nabbed in UAE in 6 months

More than 32,000 individuals were found violating the UAE’s entry and residence laws in the first six months of 2025, according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), as reported by Gulf Today.

The arrests came as part of a nationwide inspection campaign under the theme “Towards a Safer Society,” which aims to reinforce legal compliance among residents and visitors across the Emirates.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, emphasized that the campaign is not only about enforcement but also about ensuring that all residents and workers can legally integrate into society. “The campaigns demonstrate the Authority’s commitment to fostering a culture of legal compliance,” he said, noting that violators are given the chance to regularize their status or face deportation.

Approximately 70 percent of those apprehended have already been deported after completing legal procedures, while others remain in custody awaiting further action.

The ICP chief confirmed that nationwide operations are ongoing and that both violators and those sheltering or employing them will face legal consequences. He warned that the law imposes strict penalties and fines on those who breach the entry and residency rules.

Al Khaili called on all members of the community to support efforts in maintaining security by adhering to the law and avoiding the employment of individuals with irregular status.
