OVP uses 85.55% of 2024 budget, reaches over 1.7 million Filipinos through key aid programs

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) reported that it spent ₱1.783 billion—or 85.55%—of its ₱2.084 billion budget for the year 2024, with the bulk going to socio-economic programs and public service initiatives that supported over 1.78 million Filipinos nationwide.

Released on Monday, July 14, the OVP’s 2024 Accomplishment Report highlighted the administration’s focus on delivering direct assistance and public service to communities across the country.

Topping the list of programs was Libreng Sakay, which served 1,025,275 commuters in need of free transportation—making it the most far-reaching initiative of the year. Following this were PagbaBago Campaign with 227,958 beneficiaries, and the Disaster Operations Center which extended aid to 178,812 individuals during emergencies.

The report also showed that over 154,000 people received medical assistance, more than 144,000 were given RICE food bags, and nearly 33,000 families were aided with burial support. Other projects included livelihood support through Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day, feeding programs under PanSarap, and youth engagement via the You Can Be VP initiative.

The OVP emphasized that the high utilization rate was driven by the full-scale implementation of its socio-economic projects aimed at improving access to essential services.
