Vice Ganda, Piolo Pascual, and Nadine Lustre return for MMFF 2025 with star-studded films

Vice Ganda, Piolo Pascual, and Nadine Lustre are officially making a comeback to the big screen through the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025, as the first four entries of this year’s festival were announced on Tuesday, July 8.

Vice and Nadine will headline the comedy-drama Call Me Mother, directed by Jun Robles Lana, while Pascual takes on a darker role in the crime-thriller Manila’s Finest, helmed by Rae Red. This marks Pascual’s return to the festival after last year’s The Kingdom, and Vice’s follow-up to the 2024 top grosser And The Breadwinner Is…. Nadine was also part of the 2024 cast of Uninvited.

Also joining the lineup is Rekonek, a family drama featuring real-life couple Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi, alongside Gerald Anderson and Gloria Diaz. The film is directed by Jade Castro.

The iconic horror anthology Shake, Rattle & Roll is also back with its 17th installment titled Evil Origins. This edition features an ensemble cast including Richard Gutierrez, Carla Abellana, Ivana Alawi, Francine Diaz, and Seth Fedelin, among others.

The announcement of MMFF 2025’s first four official entries was held at the Glorietta Palm Drive Activity Center in Makati City—marking the first time the city has hosted the annual event. The program was led by Enchong Dee and Jervi “Kaladkaren” Li.
