PMA cadets tagged in alleged hazing case, victim hospitalized after repeated abuse

Four cadets from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) are under investigation following allegations of hazing against a fellow cadet, according to a report by the Baguio City Police, as cited by GMA News Online.

Authorities identified the suspects as two 4th Class cadets, one 2nd Class cadet, and one 1st Class cadet, all reportedly involved in the prolonged physical and psychological abuse of a 4th Class cadet from September 2 to 29, 2024.

The police report detailed that the victim was subjected to repeated acts of “physical abuse and humiliation” inside the PMA barracks. These included excessive physical training routines and punches, described by the complainant as “animalistic tripping.” The situation escalated on September 29 when the cadet collapsed after being punched and nearly lost consciousness.

He was first admitted to a hospital in Quezon City for both physical and psychological treatment before being transferred to the PMA Station Hospital, where he was eventually discharged on June 30, 2025.

Authorities said the maltreatment was not an isolated case but occurred frequently, raising further concerns about possible systemic issues within the academy. Investigations are ongoing.
