Authorities in Dubai are pressing charges against five Ethiopian nationals accused of robbing multiple trading company offices in the Al Ras area.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the suspects allegedly broke into four separate offices, forcibly opened safes, and made off with nearly Dh30,000 in cash. The thefts were discovered when the business owners arrived the next morning to find their workplaces ransacked.
A police team comprising patrol officers, forensic experts, and crime scene investigators responded immediately. Inside the offices, they found documents scattered across the floors and clear signs of forced entry. Investigators collected fingerprints and reviewed CCTV footage, which showed the suspects fleeing the scene in a Toyota Corolla.
The breakthrough came when officers traced the vehicle’s license plate, leading to the arrest of the driver. During questioning, he confessed to the crime and disclosed the locations of his accomplices. A coordinated operation between Dubai and Abu Dhabi police led to the arrest of the remaining four suspects.
According to investigators, all five have admitted to the robbery. Police recovered Dh18,000 of the stolen money, while the rest had reportedly been sent overseas. The case is now under the Dubai Public Prosecution’s review as formal charges are being prepared.
