Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has temporarily suspended all flights to and from the UAE until June 30, citing escalating regional tensions as the primary reason behind the move.
The airline confirmed on Tuesday that several of its flights had to be rerouted to alternate airports on Monday evening after Iran launched missile strikes targeting a US military base in Qatar. The attack prompted the closure of multiple airspaces in the region, significantly disrupting flight operations.
In a statement, the airline emphasized that “the safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority.” Wizz Air also assured the public that they will “keep you informed as the situation evolves.”
This announcement came shortly after Wizz Air, the parent low-cost airline based in Hungary, declared a similar suspension of its operations to the UAE.
